This Ash (Fraxinus Excelsior) Yarn Bowl is finished in a hard wearing gloss wax. The heartwood of Ash is a light to medium brown colour, though darker streaks can also be seen, which is sometimes sold as Olive Ash.

Ash is readily available in the UK and across Europe making it an affordable wood to work with and sell. Unfortunately, Ash Dieback (Hymenoscyphus fraxineus) is having a huge impact upon millions of trees in the UK and Europe. The long term outcome of this devastating disease is as yet unknown but it is unlikely to be good.
