Inspired by Colwin Way (Woodturners Magazine Issue … Page …) who had been in turn inspired by Björn Köhler who originated this idea in 1991 these nativity characters were turned.

They were a fantastic way to push forwards my fine detail skills, explore toning of woods and colours and practice scaling for parts.

The first collection I made was auctioned at my parent’s church charity auction and I was persuaded to sell second ‘display’ collection at another Christmas fete.

I would like to find the inspiration and time to develop this idea rather than just feel like I am trying to imitate Björn and profit from his success.
